Review these basic facts to determine your TV or TV/VCR configuration before setup:
- You can play Xbox games and audio CDs with the Xbox video game system. The Xbox video game system will connect to a stand-alone television, or a television and VCR setup.
- The Xbox video game system is designed to work with a television or television and VCR setup. It does not connect to a computer.

If your television has a composite video input, use the standard AV cable included with the Xbox. |
Older television models may not include an AV input. If your television only contains a cable input or antenna input with an adapter for cable, and does not appear to have an AV input, you will need to purchase an Xbox RF Adaptor. This item is sold separately at your Xbox retailer.
Front- or rear-projection televisions:
Some televisions, especially front- or rear-projection televisions, can be damaged if any video games, including Xbox games, are played on them. Static images presented during the normal course of gameplay may "burn" into the screen, causing a permanent shadow of the static image to appear at all times, even when video games are not being played. Consult your television owner's manual to determine if video games can be played safely on your set.
Note: Digital Audio, High Definition Television (HDTV), Component inputs and RF (cable) inputs are not supported by the Standard AV Pack, and require the purchase of a separate AV Pack (such as the High Definition AV Pack, the Advanced AV Pack, or the Xbox RF Adapter).
Connecting to a television and VCR setup:
You do not need to change the existing connection between the VCR and TV.
If your TV is connected to a VCR and the VCR has composite (integrated) video input, you can use the standard AV cable included with the Xbox to connect to the VCR.
