City Year

Proud City Year Partner

More than one million students give up on school each year - and 50 percent drop out in just 12 percent of schools nationwide.

Comcast is helping to combat America’s dropout crisis by serving as a national leadership sponsor of City Year, an education-focused nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to help keep students in school and on track to graduate. We are proud that City Year chooses to go where the need is greatest: of the 187 schools where City Year serves, three quarters are among the lowest performing in their states.

Getting and Staying Involved

Comcast’s partnership with City Year at the national level began in 2003, and we’ve since renewed it to carry through 2013. This partnership renewal brings  Comcast's total cash and in-kind support to more than $75 million. Most importantly, Comcast is the proud sponsor of eight City Year teams across the country that impact diverse young adults and children in public schools:

  • Jeremiah Burke High School - Boston, Mass.
  • Howe School of Excellence - Chicago, Ill.
  • Montbello High School - Denver, Colo.
  • River Rouge High School - Detroit, Mich.
  • Civic Engagement Team - Los Angeles, Calif.
  • Charles R. Drew Middle School - Miami, Fla.
  • Frankford High School - Philadelphia, Pa.
  • Browne Education Campus - Washington, D.C.

Comcast is looking forward to adding the ninth sponsored team in New Hampshire in 2013.
