In fall 2011, Comcast was on the frontlines of a momentous announcement that the Barnes Foundation’s world-famous art collection will relocate and debut in its new Philadelphia home May 19, 2012.
The collection - an extraordinary number of masterpieces by Renoir, Cézanne and Matisse - is regarded as one of the most significant collections of impressionist and modernist art anywhere. Its move from a Philadelphia suburb to the centrally-located Benjamin Franklin Parkway, already home to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Rodin Museum and the Franklin Institute, compliments what some have dubbed a “magic museum mile.”
Comcast’s support of the new building and of the Foundation’s continuing art education programs reflects our commitment to Philadelphia and the region as one of the nation’s premier hubs of arts and culture.
The increased public accessibility of the collection that will result from the move will undoubtedly inspire the city, its residents and visitors.
